Bella belle dolls.
As artisans are beginning to find JaneLaverick.com, so some great previews are surfacing. There’s going to be some good stuff at the show. First this week is the latest offering from Julie Campbell of Bella belle dolls who is rushing downscale with her most recent doll Petite Bella. This little lovely is less than 2 inches tall, each is dressed differently and comes in a box. I can’t help thinking these would be just the job if you were stocking a 12th scale toy shop.
First time exhibitor Sindy.
There’s news from Sindy Stanley, whom you saw here last week wearing her dolls as earrings. Sindy’s 24th scale miniatures live in PC World (that’s Pipe-cleaner City World), on streets and lanes that connect the colour families; Cerise vale, Turquoise View and Quartz Bank. A visit to Sindy’s site (on the links page) will tell you what your colour name means.
Sindy’s dolls are available ready-made or as kits, which, being cost effective and light also make badges, wall plaques and gifts. They’re also very child friendly, which I think important in a hobby where many of the collectables are really designed for adults.
Mystery Miniatura Miniature.
Here is an item that will be for sale at Miniatura. What do you think it is?
As you can see this is rather small because it is a 24th scale version of a real historical artefact. Like the real thing it is ceramic, has been turned on a potter’s wheel and has a turned wooden bung. The outside is roughly ridged but the inside of the lip, as you can see from the shine, is beautifully glazed. This is the complete artefact, there is no missing lid or handle. What the dickens is it?
I’ll give you one clue: in bygone days this would have been found in a kitchen, probably in the pantry.
Any guesses? No prizes, but I’m willing to bet the only people who know either saw it reported in a magazine, or are owners of one.
Tune in next week to Midweek Miniatura to find out.
Miniatura – mystifyingly marvellous miniatures for collectors.
