What a pleasure and a delight it is to know that autumn Miniatura 2015 is only a fortnight away! There are 155 exhibitors, the majority of whom are artists working in every known medium but in miniature. There are sculptors, ceramicists, painters, silversmiths, turners, carvers, needlepointers, embroiderers, glassblowers, bookbinders, modellers……well, I could go on. All of them exhibiting by invitation because they are good enough and from all over the world

New this show are TYA, a modern kitchen maker from Japan. I have heard through the grapevine that one Japanese exhibitor is going to be followed round the show by a television crew making a programme about an artist whose life time ambition it was to exhibit at Miniatura, I wonder if it’s them? If you see a camera crew say hello, you could end up on TV in Japan. There are also new Spanish furniture makers ADM, with a rather different take on things. Home grown Colin Watson is a painter new to the show and there are old friends Stephen Randall with silverware and Lesley from Dolls House Delights both returning.
There are workshops and clubs and all your favourites and me.
I’ve been dressing the new articulated all porcelain 24th scale dolls which I am so enjoying.
They are quite fine and delicate as you can see, definitely a collector’s delight. Here are some of the others
I’m trying to cover all eras, despite being time-limited at present. That woman in the ghastly hat is one of my more alarming aunties, as remembered through the enchanting mists of childhood terror. After the show I will pour and dress more, if you have desires in this new range, please do let me know. I am currently dressing 48th scale ordinary rustic men, which is what I found written in the request book that is left on the front of my table. If you write it, I will do it!
